Wondering where to park? Try this!
Dear Participant, Before our first Big Cheese 5K in 2010 we debated endlessly about how many t-shirts to order to give to the runners. If we splurged and ordered 50 would we have 49 left over? As we plan our 5th Annual race we still worry about t-shirts. Too many? Not enough? Maybe a color this year? Maybe long sleeves? Then we remind ourselves to push pause and remember that race shirts make great souvenirs but that's not what makes the Big Cheese 5K so popular. Runners come back year after year, bringing family and friends with them, because they know they will have a great experience. This race is a blast! You feel strong. You feel accomplished. Better still maybe you even leave with a little Smith Country Cheese in your pocket. With the conclusion of the 2014 race, we have raised over $27,000 for the North Quabbin Food-a-Thon and the Franklin County Health Care Corp. Meals on Wheels Walkathon. Contributions have also been made to the Athol Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Town of Athol Holiday Decorating Committee and to the Monty Tech Information Technology Program. For those of you new to the River Rat Weekend extravaganza: -- WELCOME! Join us as we celebrate our little town and show our community pride with two unique races, the Big Cheese 5k and River Rat canoe race. We encourage you to enter both races and we'll recognize you with special Double Duty status on race day. Peace, Love, and Good Cheese! Susan Black Allen & Heather Brissette
